The WEF/AWWA Utility Management Conference is being held in San Diego, Californina this week. Spartanburg Water, like other utilities that are attending this conference, is facing many challenges. We have aging infrastructure, the brain drain from a retiring workforce and the combined double whammy of increased costs and declining water sales.
I will have the opportunity to both share the innovative solutions we are implementing and to seek answers from others facing the same challenges. I will be participating in Session 21: Utility Leader Forum 4: Creativity and Water Innovation - Embracing Disruptive Ideas Within that has been organized by Manshi Low from Veolia Water. The panel includes Marc Marcantonio form the Yourba Linda Water District (California) and Stephen Daly for the City of Tuscaloosa Water & Sewer Department (Alabama).
This will be an exciting week of meeting new friends and catching up with old friends. Stay tuned and I will be sharing some of the highlights and wonderful people that are presenting and participating in this conference.
